There are secret islands close to Koh Mak, including Koh Kham — a lovely white-sand beach with a black rock setting where you can wander and relax. Tickets to the island can be bought through the Koh Mak resort, 150 THB for entry and 200 THB for the small long-tail boat. You can take a break at a small shop with snacks and drinks while on your day trip, the last boat being at 4 PM to return back to Koh Mak. However, there are alternatives to the long-tail boat method of travel, including the suggested rental of a kayak from the Koh Mak resort or Cococape resort — a fun and adventurous activity which will also take you from the one kilometer away from Koh Mak to Koh Kham.

Koh Rayang is another island nearby, known for its snorkeling and restaurant serving drinks of all kinds. The island has beautiful corals that can be spotted around the island and colorful fishes can be seen when snorkeling. Furthermore, sunbeds and umbrellas there are also available for everyone to use. The price is also 150 THB for entry and 200 THB for the boat, though a kayak can also be taken with the knowledge that it is further away from Koh Mak than Koh Kham.

Koh Kradat has a small, serene and humbly secluded beach setting where you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Deer frequent the area, with over 100 deer to see, as you drive around the island by a tractor.

Koh Chang is located towards the North of Koh Mak. The island is similar to Phuket, or Pattaya in many aspects. Many parties and bars are situated around the island, so activities such as ‘bar hopping’ is common. Koh Chang’s beaches are usually more pact but are still fun and enjoyable. Furthermore, the island is a perfect destination for ‘island hopping’ where you travel from island to island. This is a brilliant way of exploring new places and especially convenient for backpacking.

The bigger neighboring island of Koh Mak is Koh Kood. This island is full of hidden amazing waterfalls and surrounded by admirable beaches which you can reach by car or a rental motorbike or bicycle. The island has many luxury hotels and restaurants at beaches which makes it very convenient to spend the day on a beach and appreciate the beautiful weather and warm sun.  As well as Koh Chang, Koh Kood is perfect for ‘island hopping’.
